The brain is a muscle. The more you exercise it, the stronger it gets, and the more it can accomplish.
Studies among Alzheimer’s patients show that using your brain helps stave off its devastating effects.
Ergo, you can spend time working on crosswords, sudoku, cryptoquotes, and the like ABSOLUTELY guilt-free. You are doing so in the name of keeping your wits about you, and strengthening your thinking ability. I have so declared it.
With that proclamation, I now exhort you to go to today’s FamilyFirst site, Thinks.com, and get started.

Thinks.com has all sorts of diversions designed to stretch your thinking ability. For instance, take the humble crossword puzzle.
The crossword is a test that forces you to do several things to improve your thinking. First of all, you must know how to spell the answers. Secondly, it strengthens your memory. Thirdly, you must think in slightly left-handed fashion. For instance, take the clue “Asian leader.” Would that be a person, or a prefix to the word “Asian?”
Sudoku is another brain-strengthener. Sudoku forces you to think logically and analytically. Guessing is not allowed. Instead, you must master cause-and-effect logic. Pretty remarkable stuff from a seemingly simple collection of numbers in squares.
So go forth, my friends, start exercising your brains. Our society as a whole desperately needs higher IQ’s! ;-)
